Go For A Walk To Boost Brain Power

It has been a long held belief that going for a walk is good for you.  But now a scientific study has shown that regular walking actually increases the size of your brain.    Yes, it makes your brain bigger!

A study presented to the recent conference of the American Association for the Advancement of Science from the University of Pittsburgh showed that energetic walking 3 times a week for 40 mins lead to the hippocampus area of the brain growing by 2% in a group of 55 - 80 year olds.

That may not sound like much but it is a masive increase as opposed to the expected shrinking of the brain.  As the hippocampus is involved with menory it can potentially slow down the effects of Alzheimers disease.

Hopefully this research will be built on and perhaps the NHS will produce some guidelines and tips.
